Damp Proofing

There are 5 areas in which we tackle damp issues or negate damp from rising its ugly head, the areas are briefly explained below, for more in depth information about each area keep on scrolling and tap the more information button below each category and in tern each one is explained.

Rising Damp

Rising damp is a rare but severe form of damp that damages building walls. Moisture from the surface rises through the walls as a result of capillary forces. This indicates that like a collection of straws, groundwater is drawn up through small holes in the bricks. This liquid carries salts, which can move up the wall as well.

Penetrating Damp

Penetrating damp is present when the external wall no longer is water tight, this can be as a result from weathering or simply poor workmanship within the build itself, once the external wall is compromised water and moisture will make its way through into the inner wall and present itself as damp patches at any hight.

Condensation

Condensation occurs when the warm moist atmosphere within the property is attracted to cold areas on the property, ie. windows, corners of rooms and behind units, causing it to settle.

Although condensation may seem harmless it actually provides the perfect environment for black mould (Stachybotrys chartarum) to grow, when the spores of this mould are released it has serious health implications for the occupants.
